FAQs
Many of your questions can be answered by clicking on the "Urn Selection Guide" or by scrolling down to view the size charts or fonts.
Q. How long will it take to receive proof, make my urn, and ship it out?
Ans: Amaranthine Urn Company will typically send back a proof within 12 hours and upon your approval, ship your engraved urn within 24 hours or less Monday through Friday except on major United States holidays.
Q. Can I have custom art or a design engraved?
Ans: Yes, we are always glad to help design something unique. Additional fees may apply and we will need to be contacted directly to submit your art or communicate your ideas. We can be reached by phone or email to begin process of generating a proof and price quote.
Q. Does it take longer to have custom art or a design engraved?
Ans: No, every urn is made individually for each person, so the engraving time is like a typical order. What can add time is complexity and availability of art and the number of revisions it takes to be approved for engraving.
Q. Is there Font Options?
Ans: Yes, we offer six standard font options which are shown at the bottom of this page or below the art on the "Buy Now" tab. We are always happy to try other fonts as well, we have several more substitutions.
Q. How do I know what size urn to buy?
Ans: One cubic inch of ashes equals about one pound of "living weight". This is a rough formula, so a 200 pound person would require approximately a 200 cubic inch urn (our Eaton size). This is most common sized urn we sell and we've seen on the market because cremains (ashes) are primarily bone, however, we do offer the Peyton, which is 250 cubic inches and smaller urns like the Burton (90cu in.) and Winston (35cu in) for smaller people or those who want to share ashes among family members. Q. Can any urn be used for a pet or a person?
Ans: Yes, all of our urns are built to the same quality standards and are suitable for any application, just remember to choose the appropriate sized urn.
Q. Can this urn be directly buried?
Ans: Yes, Amaranthine Urns have been laboratory tested to withstand in excess of 100,000 lbs of force, so it will not crush under typical ground pressures or equipment loads or shatter when dropped or hit with a tent stake. This data can be provided upon request.
Q. Can another urn fit inside an Amaranthine urn?
Ans: No, the opening in the bottom of our urn is a 3.125" square opening, so typically, the ashes would be "poured" into the internal plastic bag thru the opening in the bottom of urn. The bag is then sealed and the bottom is screwed closed.
Q. Can I load the ashes into the new urn myself?
Ans: Yes, cremains or ashes resemble cement mix so they are heavy, dense, and powder like. It's best to use care an be sure the bag opening being emptied is completely inside the bag being filled. If this is emotionally too much, most reputable Funeral Professionals are willing to help with the transfer.
Q. Do all the ashes need to be in one urn?
Ans: No, it is common for family members to purchase smaller urns (like Winstons or Burtons) and divide the ashes to allow families to share and carry out more individual ways to memorialize their loved ones.
Q. What is the difference between Polished Trim and Painted Trim?
Ans: All the trim parts are 3/8" thick aluminum plate, the difference is how they are processed and finished. Polished trim appears much like a chrome bumper on a truck so your reflection can be seen in it because it is highly polished and electroplated with real gold, copper, and nickel metals. Painted trim appears much like a metallic silver or gold colored car would, a little sparkly, but not reflective.
Q. Can my ashes be added to my pets or companion?
Ans: Yes, we would suggest using a larger urn (like the Peyton) so there is enough room for additional ashes in the future.
Q. Can I engrave more than one side of the urn?
Ans: Yes, we are happy to help out with any special requests, simply call us at 855.443.0124 or email to discuss your needs.
Q. Can Amaranthine Urns be re-opened after ashes are in it?
Ans: Yes, the bottom of the urn is closed with 4 stainless steel screws going thru the rubber feet that can be removed to open the bottom at any time.
Q. Are Amaranthine Urns returnable?
Ans: We encourage you to triple check the spelling of all personalized orders, especially names, because once your urn is personalized, it is non-refundable; however, Amaranthine Urns stands by the quality of our products 100%. If WE make a mistake - we will replace your product at no cost to you.
